I'm sure you have heard about this but I decided to actually read one of the articles, out of loathing for anything related to the current administration. This one looked to good to pass up...
The headline as it appears on MSNBC:
"Cheney shoots man on Texas quail hunting trip"
And now for a closer look, MisAdventuresofChuck style, at the two paragraphs that really got my attention -
- ...Armstrong said she was watching from a car while Cheney, Whittington and another hunter got out of the vehicle to shoot at a covey of quail.
Got out of the vehicle? Maybe if you had put down your "gin & tonic" a bit earlier, you wouldn't have shot your friend. Hunting from a car. Next week, spotlighting deer! I guess a man as busy as the Vice President doesn't really have time to hunt properly, even on vacation.
The next two paragraphs continue:
- Whittington shot a bird and went to retrieve it in the tall grass, while Cheney and the third hunter walked to another spot and discovered a second covey.
Whittington "came up from behind the vice president and the other hunter and didn't signal them or indicate to them or announce himself", Armstrong said.
Notice the word in bold & italics - in case you didn't I will highlight it in quotes here >>>>> "BEHIND"<<<<<
Generally, behind someone is a good, safe place to be when hunting. Most people shoot birds when they are in the air. The VP decided to track this one far enough to spin 180 degrees and shot it when it was only about 6 feet off the ground.
Time to retake the Hunter Safty Course, Mr. Cheney.

Like most of the loyal El (mis)Aventuras de Carlos community I've been following along closely w/ great amusement and admiration as our hero acclimates to a new culture and solar angle. I was impressed w/ Carlos' ability to navigate the murky waters of local wiring/plumbing codes, residential security lapses, and attenuated beaches. My excitement grew proportionately w/ the successive posting of beautiful pictures and the news that an established cocktail lounge and a cartel of Swedish nannies were both within driftwood throwing distance to Amarillo Casa De Chucks.
But I now must confess that recently a small yet pervasive concern has crept in. Is Carlos really in Cahuita? Burdened with this cynical musing, I assumed I was unique in my fear. But alas, another venerable member of the E(m)AdC community has entered the thought into the public domain for all to consider. PinF always puts the audience first, and so must I. In this day of diluted journalistic integrity, we must investigate further.
Of course, I've been reticent to share this concern as I didn't want to upset the delicate balance of Carlos' blog management, regardless of locale. The postings have been prolific and captivating. The photos - beautiful in their own context - have been dramatically enhanced w/ clever captions and notations. An effort, no doubt, that has consumed hours of time and precious electricity. Given the only outlet is in the shower, further testament to the impressive collaborative relationship these two Chuck's share.
Or is there in fact more electricity from where Carlos posts? I wonder....
So I press on in search of the truth. The next step is a drastic but necessary one; Carlos - I will be mailing a Pentium 286 and 13" CRT directly to The yellow house next to Walters Piscina Natural that was robbed 3x in Cahuita, Costa Rica. I expect photographic documentation that this hardware is expeditiously refurbished and networked, and dispatched to helping to train the youth of Cahuita within 17 days time. Upon confirmation, I will see to it that a slightly less than sizable donation is made to one of the many philanthropic foundations that you are currently managing.
You are doing special work my dear friend. We just need proof.

For a second, I had to pause and think - "who is the Pecker guy that is writing a book in my comment section?" So the question is, where have you been?
As for the antique computer you are planning to send, save yourself the money. Either submit it to the UofP computer lab for historical purposes to be placed along side of "ENIAC" or see if you can fetch a good price for it on Ebay and send me the money.
Now on to business. What services does TATNET want to contribute to the cause?
a) old computers, but not antiques. Sorry, we only except Pentium III or newer.
b) Opportunity Access could use some website "search engine optimization"
c) a half dozen of those "naked lady tees" for my friend Wang. I'm opening the first jungle golf course.....

Any sightings of Krush Groove? He's been known to haunt Central America? Speaking of Central America, I trust you're spinning your "Sandinista" triple album daily.

If playing MP3's in Windows Media Player can pass as "spinning", then yes.
Daily.
Krush the story has it, is still haunting the west coast in search of fame and fortune. Should we hook him up with Butler & Co? Could make for some interesting material...
