So not a single comment to Wednesday's posting about the extortion attempt by my friends PinF and Pecker in regards to the fabled "lost blogs"? Interesting.
I know one person who will be commenting later today - his honor the Judge. We don't take extortion lightly here at MofC blog.
Unfortunately, Judge "Brimstone & Hellfire" is on vacation this week. Sitting in for him is his brother, Judge "Hangum' High and Watchum' Fly". Should be interesting.
In other news, I complained to the GM at Powershift. I now have a computer. I'm only in my 4th week of work here. I hope progress isn't always going to be this slow.....
Last week, when driving down to Philly I heard something on the radio. Apparently men can process 600 words a minute in conversation, while women tend to speak only 150 words/min. This explains why we get so bored in conversation with women.
It also explains why it seems like the women at work sit around and gossip all day, because they do! It takes them 4x as long to say anything. Now if we could only get them to speed up to 600 words they would get the gossip out of the way in 2 hours and still have 6 hours left to do something productive......Of course, maybe they can't process 600 words a minute. To them that would sound like the phone calls you hear on the Charlie Brown cartoons "wah wah wahh ha waa waa waha ah".
Odds n Sods as a blog title? I don't know, it just sounded good for an article that didn't have a single theme running through it, plus it's a heck of a good album. Hari's got my back on that one.

Extortion? A bit drastic if not clearly defamatory of a label for one who tries to lend a hand at showing you how to re-capture anything that "once was" on the internet.
That term has effectively ended all negotiations and offers of assistance, these "dead sea scrolls" will remain just that--dead. However, owing to their place in the public domain, and no disclaimer of copyrights anywhere on your site--I may, from time to time tease our mutually reading public and re-print some of the more amusing posts.
Still, I'm not comfortable being labeled an extortionist. Never once was money, goods, or services either demanded or intimated as a necessary element in the release of said "lost" ramblings by myself or Mr. Peck. We merely expounded on the ramifications of such "lost Lennon tapes" being discovered.
Your dark heart reveals itself in your harsh tone. Mr. Peck and I have conversed extensively regarding the suspicious nature of your blog "deletions", wondering if this isn't another "get sympathy for AofC" routine.....certainly there is precedence for such ploys.
I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them suddenly appear on "their own" Mr. Munchhausen....
Suffice to say the issue and offer are curtly rescinded. Now if you don't mind I have a tele-conference with Mr. Peck to discuss the proper editing of these posts' of yours.

“Lend a hand” you say in your recent comment? Was it you who behind the scenes sent me an email telling me that I might be able to find my lost blogs – perhaps by searching Google’s cache of web pages? NO, I THINK NOT.
It was you however, who said he needed to confer with Peck before dispensing with any information.
And didn’t Mr. Peck’s response to this contain the words “…and put yourself at our mercy. Only when you comply with our demands will that which you covet be disclosed. Don't let your foolish pride get in the way…”
I’m sorry, isn’t Mr. Peck speaking on your behalf? That may or may not be extortion, but it certainly isn’t an offering of information. You can’t rescind the offer; it was never extended in the first place.
The only one(s) with a dark heart here is the duo of PinF and Pecker.

Strong words to be sure. I however do not speak for Mr. Peck---and would advise you of the same. I speak on behalf of the copywritten PinF.
If you've felt coerced, cornered, threatened or cajoled...I would suggest getting out of your Ted Kaczynski-esque existance up-there-in-them-thar-hills.
PinF was only trying to lend a benevolent and altruistic hand-up if you will. Never did he suspect it would be so savagely and viscously mawled by the vaunted Vermont Virgin of Pucker Street.

Chuck, it's important to point out that Mr. Webster defines extortion thusly: "The unlawful exaction of money or property through intimidation or undue exercise of authority" While you may have perceived some intimidation (a typical reaction from someone w/ your slight stature), I don't believe there was ever a specific offer to extract your money or property (what would I do w/ the Land Cruiser?).
Obviously, this is less about extortion than it is about your motive to generate some heat off of that blog - perhaps in an effort to stay warm on Pucker Street. However, I must admit that I do enjoy the paranoid ramblings filtering down from New England. They remind me of the paranoid ramblings I used to hear 25 years ago on the clay courts of Rose Valley.

Well it's also important to point out that Mr. Heritage describes extortion thusly:
Illegal use of one's official position or powers to obtain property, funds, or patronage
and further describes patronage as:
a condescending manner or attitude in granting favors, in dealing with people, etc
So,
You have illegally used your position as my friends, to treat me in a condescending manner and have furthermore granted me no favors, since in fact no lost blogs have miraculouly appeared.
(believe me, I run everything past the law department).

Well, it's obviuos to me that ALL MF-Chuck does at his new POB is watch AND listen to these women all day. I'd like to see his productivity numbers.

PinF - If you wanted to be the hero, you should have just come out and said you could help me find my missing blogs, I would have appreciated it and surely written a blog singing your praises.
But we both know that isn't what you wanted! Which, is exactly why you brought it up in the comment section of my blog. You wanted to have a little fun with it and entertain everyone along the way. Give them all something to read. Do you deny it?

Enough already. I've gotten out my violin oh greatly agrieved one. You've allowed the stale undertrappings of New England to invade your sense of humor and sense of fun.
Thats all it was Chuck just a little jump start to fire up the old MofC and by the looks of things it kind of rekindled some interest.
Your (over)reaction was obviously unexpected, as well as your hurt feelings, like you said yourself the "lost" blogs are just that...no one reads them, no one looks at em....you should have seen the through the offer from the get go---that you didn't is a bit confusing.
The mellow dramatics of this event are becoming a bit over the top--almost laughable, I do nice things everyday Chuck as I'm sure you do..Let's keep it all in perspective. I've unbanned myself....if you keep up the whining I'm booking you on Dr. Phil.
